A secret sanctuary for you and your hens…
Beneath the heart of the bustling Financial District, just 2 minutes from Liverpool Street station,lies the enigmatic sanctuary that is “The Spa at The CityPoint Club”. You would never know that below the chaotic city is a hidden 3000 square foot of pure bliss; white fluffy robes & slippers, ice cold champagne and more pampering than a girl could ever need. Although The Citypoint Club is an exclusive members only club during the week, come the weekend when ‘the city’ shuts down, this oasis of calm and relaxation opens its doors to brides and hens for a day or weekend of pure pampering and indulgence!
When I arrived I was greeted and shown to the gorgeous cafe for a welcome drink. I leisurely sipped my fresh smoothie and looked over my personal treatment schedule for the day before I was taken on a tour of the spa.
The spa – which offers a wealth of peerless pampering treatments, rituals and cosmetic procedures – has just unveiled its 7 artisan treatment rooms and New York style pedicure and nail areas which compliment a refined caché that includes a stunning 20 meter ozone treated swimming pool, sauna, steam room and a soporific relaxation room.After being shown around I was left in the gorgeous changing area to slip in to a white fluffy robe and slippers….
One of the first places I headed was the amazing ozone treated swimming pool. With dim lighting, soothing music and the water heated to the perfect temperature, this was definitely the most relaxing and wonderful swim I had ever had. After an hour or so in the pool I spent some time relaxing in the whirlwind spa before making my way to the sauna, steam room and plunge pool area.
After a long steam and quick shower I made my way back to the trendy café for my lunch. The spa offers a great selection of healthy lunches (lunch is included in the day packages) as well as lots of other goodies including a tempting selection of cream cakes which I somehow managed to resist. Once I finished lunch I headed to my favourite place, the ‘relaxation room’. This is a dark room with bed-like loungers, snuggly blankets and a huge hypnotic glowing fish tank. I lay there quietly relaxing for 20 minutes before one of the girls came to get me for my massage.
I was offered a choice of scented oils then left alone for a couple of minutes to remove my robe and get comfortable on the massage table. The massage was just as fantastic as I had expected it would be. She knew exactly where all my tension was and how to relieve it and by the end I was so relaxed I could have gone to sleep right there on the massage table!
I opted for a body massage as this is my pampering weakness but there are countless other treatments you can choose from: a caviar facial, beauty flash treatment, dead sea salt scrub, green tea abdomen treatment, seaweed cellulite treatment, chocolate therapy for the body and luxury manicure and pedicure are just a few of the treatments on offer.
All their day spa packages enable you to enjoy unlimited use of their facilities including the extensive gymnasium, exercise and spinning studio, squash courts, 20 metre swimming pool and whirlpool spa, sauna, steam and plunge pool, relaxation room plus refreshments on arrival, a healthy lunch and use of robes, slippers and towels (the spacious changing rooms also provide shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, hair straighteners etc). The ‘Spa Experience’ package starts at just £40 for the entire day, any treatments would be paid for separately.
One of the most popular packages for brides and their hens is the ‘Retreat Day’ package. This is the same as the ‘Spa Experience’ package but also includes a half hour treatment. This package is £62.50 if there are 8 or more of you and £80 if there are fewer than 8, so definitely worth rounding up the girls and making a day of it!!
Another package that I must mention is the ‘Time Together’ package for two. Like all the other packages it includes full use of the club facilities but also includes a 1 hour treatment (or 2 half hour treatments) of your choice plus a glass of champagne each. This is a wonderful package to do just you and your fiancé to spend some relaxing quality time together before the wedding. Alternatively it would make a wonderful thank you gift if you took your maid of honour. £160 for two of you.
The spa is very accommodating and will tailor the day to your every need. If you want back to back treatments they can book in as many as you like, if you want a bottle of chilled champagne waiting for you when you arrive, they will organise that, if you want a choreographer to come in for a couple of hours to teach you and your bridesmaids a dance routine or a pilates instructor to start off your day with a private lesson they can do this for you. Whatever you want out of your day they will do their best to make it as perfect as possible!
As the spa only admits up to 25 people in one day, to keep the exclusive and spacious feeling, I would suggest booking a month or two in advance.
