Beautiful, delicious and unique wedding cakes…
This morning I met with extremely talented cake maker Rachel Hill of Rachelle’s!
London based Rachel left her career as an interior designer and freelance set designer in 2006 to follow her passion for creating fun and imaginative cakes!
I visited Rachel at her beautiful location in Streatham and we spent all morning chatting and tasting her wonderful cakes. Her moist double chocolate cake was simply to die for and I couldn’t get enough of her vanilla madeira cake with raspberry filling, not I have never been a fan or fruit cake in fact if I’m completely honest I really can’t stand it but as it put in front of me and I was on such a roll with the eating I thought it would be rude to turn it down, so I picked up my fork and took a small mouthful, well what can I say it was delicious, I couldn’t believe it, I had spent my whole life turning my nose up at fruit cake and here I was wolfing it down!!
Rachel always had a love for the sweet and delicious, her dad ran a deli so she grew up with a love for food and could never quite shake the feeling that food was her calling! In 2005 she began baking in her spare time and was soon supplying local bakeries with her delicious treats! As her cakes seemed to be such a success Rachel decided to take her creations to local framers markets and the feedback she was getting was so positive she soon decided to take a leap of faith and quit her job to pursue baking full time and that was the beginning of Rachelle’s!
Rachel has a real creative flair and loves to design cakes that are a little bit quirky and fun! I love this tower of miniature cakes she made for one clients Bollywood wedding!!
Rachel is also happy to go down the traditional route and has created some stunning traditional cakes but she always seems to find a way to make her traditional cakes a bit more personal to the bride and groom, like with this gorgeous orchid wedding cake that Rachel designed around the brides bouquet and dress.
As Rachel grew up in the country it is very important to her to use the freshest organic ingredients, she has even just adopted her own chickens, Mabel, Cicely and Florence!
Rachel will deliver anywhere in London and a the surrounding areas.
When I met with Rachel she loved the idea of The Wedding Girl’s SOS and wanted to offer two free mini cakes for the bride and groom to match their wedding cake to any brides who mention SOS when ordering their cake.
