Thinking about having cupcakes at your wedding? Well now is the perfect time to get out there and get tasting!

This week bakeries, cafes and high street retailers across the country are joining forces to celebrate the UK’s first-ever National Cupcake Week (September 14-19 2009).

Alongside independent bakeries, major food retailers are fuelling the nation’s cupcake boom. Marks & Spencer recently launching its first range of cupcakes which are completely free from artificial colours and flavours, Waitrose is offering a patisserie counter selection and Asda is selling 12-packs of party cupcakes.

Both Marks & Spencer and Waitrose will be supporting National Cupcake Week with in-store branding and British Baker is staging a window display competition for bakeries and cafes.
