I recently heard about The Utterly Sexy Café which I think sounds wonderful! It is a highly original catering company which caters for all celebrations including weddings. They can prepare delicious food creatively served using their pretty Vintage China which is available for hire along with silverware, embroidered or lace napkins, tablecloths, Art Deco glass jugs for Pimms, glass cake stands, silver candelabra and lots, lots more.
Your party or wedding reception will look breathtakingly beautiful with their styling and decorating service as guests sit at elegantly decorated tables adorned with the vast collection of very pretty vintage tea cups and saucers, lace table cloths, shiny silver, glistening glass, vintage napkins and mismatched tea plates. The marquee can be dripping with lanterns, twinkly lights and bunting. Read on…

Wedding Girl, I’m looking for some ideas for my gift list. My partner and I are already living together so do not need anything for our home, we also have our honeymoon all booked and paid for. As we are quite comfortable we were thinking that perhaps we could ask our guests to donate money to a charity such as Unicef or BHF instead of buying us gifts we don’t really need. Do you know the easiest way we could this and do you think it’s appropriate or could it offend people who want to buy us gifts.
Claudia – Sterling
I think it is a wonderful thing to ask your guests to donate to a charity instead of buying you gifts that you don’t really need, especially if the charity is for a cause close to your heart. I don’t think it would offend any of your guests if you asked them to do this but I would suggest putting together a small gift list for some more traditional presents for anyone who feels they really want to buy something for you and your fiance.
Many charities now have it set up so you can easily set up a donation gift list with them, I have listed details for Unicef and The British Heart Foundation below.

Small but perfectly formed, the romantic island of Jersey is an idyllic honeymoon destination ready to be explored and enjoyed…
They say the best things come in small packages and the island of Jersey is no exception. It has beautiful beaches, quiet country lanes, excellent hotels, restaurants and more sun than anywhere else in the British Isles. It’s within easy reach of the U.K and mainland Europe, yet has a hideaway atmosphere that makes it a perfect and affordable honeymoon destination for those wanting to stay closer to home.
Set in the sparkling waters of the Bay of St Malo, Jersey is only 14 miles from the French coast and 100 miles from the south coast of England. It’s easy to get there by air or sea, just hop on one of the numerous daily flights from 33 regional airports or board the fast ferry from Poole or Weymouth.

Hi Wedding girl, I really need some help. My fiance and I are having an entirely ethical wedding and we are doing pretty well at sourcing everything but I am having a bit of trouble finding a cake or cupcakes that are completely ethical and also taste great.
M – Notting Hill, London
That is fantastic that you and your fiance have opted for an ethical wedding. I’m pleased to say this is becoming more and more popular, it’s just a shame it’s not as easy as it should be to access everything you need.
I recently heard about a company Fair Cake in Woolwich London that offered ethical cupcakes. They looked beautiful but of course I wanted to make sure that this would carry over to the way they tasted! Low and behold, when I tried a selection they were all deliciously yummy!!
Fair Cake are a small company and use the finest ingredients possible in making their cupcakes such as free range eggs and Fairtrade chocolate and coffee. Cupcakes start from £1.90 each and they can even match the edible roses and flowers to your colour scheme. Visit www.faircake.co.uk for more details.

Girls, I am so amazed with the Incoco 5 minutes manicure, it really is fantastic!! I was a bit skeptical at first when I was told that I could have a perfect manicure in just 5 minutes for only £5.99, but once gave it a go, I couldn’t believe how good it was!
Incoco Dry Nail Applique is one of a kind in the UK – dry nail polish strips that give you a salon finish manicure or pedicure at home – in just 5 minutes. You simply peel away packing paper from the film like strips and place them over your nails, leaving you with a perfectly manicured nail in seconds. With no waiting for polish to dry, no smudges and no wonky lines on your French manicure (not to mention the money you will save on a professional manicure) Incoco would be perfect for your wedding day manicure or even for your honeymoon. I have had mine on for 5 days and they still look perfect, nobody believes me when I tell them it’s not a salon manicure. Read on…

My birthday didn’t get off to a great start this weekend when I woke up on Saturday morning with a terrible ear ache. I was even contemplating canceling my party when my fiancé arrived back home with the amazing birthday cake which he had just gone to collect!! Of course once I laid eyes on the leopard print creation I knew the party had to go ahead and with the aroma of chocolate filling the room I was feeling better already!!
My fiancé and cake baker Kathryn from the Kooky Cake Company had been secretly plotting the design of my fabulous cake. He had wanted something extra special for the party we were having to celebrate my birthday (as well as the first wonderful month of The Wedding Girl’s SOS) and I have to say it couldn’t have been more perfect for the over-the-top Sex and the City themed party.

Hi Wedding Girl
I have finally bought my dress!!! I am now looking to buy a really special pair of shoes, I want shoes that will really make a statement and look beautiful in the photographs, I want the shoes to be very girlie and definitely don’t want white!! Any ideas??
Martina – London
Shoe shopping is definitely one of my favorite activities, so I know quite a few good places for you to look. My number one suggestion would be shoe designer Freya Rose, she specialises in wedding shoes and adorns the shoes using precious materials such as Tahitian pearls, crystals and lace. You can choose from lots of different styles and heel heights, have them dyed any colour you want and then customize them to make them completely unique.
You can find out more about Freya Rose at www.freyarose.co.uk

Wedding Girl, I need some inspiration for my honeymoon! My fiance and I are having difficulty deciding where we want to go on our honeymoon, we are getting married in the beginning of September and still have not agreed on where to go. Although we do want to do some relaxing after the wedding we are both really sporty and active so don’t want to just lie by a pool the whole time. Our budget is not that big either around £1500 for 10 days. Have you got any suggestions, we were thinking perhaps learning to surf or dive as we love the water but have never done either of these things.
Jessica and David – Manchester
Both the suggestions you have already made would make for a fantastic honeymoon. You may find that with your budget the diving option could be a little difficult, the good news is the surfing option is definitely in your budget if you stick within Europe.
I know that Lotus Journeys have a brilliant surfing and yoga retreat in the stunning Portugal Algarve, this could be perfect for mixing the activities with the much needed relaxation. The one week retreat costs around £750 per person and is all-inclusive. Read on…

I was really pleased when I heard that Tiarastore have just launched an exclusive range of charity bridal hair accessories to help raise money for ‘Against Breast Cancer’.
Their creative team has brought together a wide variety of pink components such as pearls, crystals and diamante, to produce a lovely selection of accessories, including a really girly princess tiara and pearl and crystal hair grips and pins which would be great for bridesmaids.

I’m going to my friends wedding in the end of July and I’m looking for either a really funky hat or fascinator to wear. I am not very traditional and I want something that is a bit fun without being inappropriate. Any ideas?
Bex – Maidenhead
I know of a great company called Queeni-B who stock a fantastic range of vintage and alternative goodies from some of the quirkiest designers! They have a brilliant selection of fascinators and headbands which would be great for the more kooky bride or guest. I’m sure you will find something here. I love the Rose & Butterfly Mini Beret (left), it is a black miniature knitted beret adorned with feathers, pink and black net and bead detail. In the centre sits a pink fabric rose and felt butterfly.

Hi Wedding Girl
Please help me, I have seriously blown the budget on my dress and have left no money to buy my shoes. I fell in love with a pair I saw with my sister last weekend but they are £160 which is not going to happen. All the wedding shoes seem to be over £50 and I can’t find anything affordable. Have you got any suggestions?
Cordelia – Bromley
Wedding shoes definitely seem to be on the expensive side but there are more high street shops now offering wedding shoes at affordable prices. As you are down to your last pennies I have a very good place for you, it’s an online retailer called Linzishoes.com, they have a fantastic selection of bridal shoes from just £6 up to £35. Offering everything from sparkly flats to satin heels, you will definitely be able to find something that goes with your dress but doesn’t cost the earth!
They also have a fabulous collection of summer shoes suitable for honeymoon.
You can view the whole collection at www.linzishoes.com

For brides and grooms marrying at the gorgeous Berkeley Ballroom things have just got a little sweeter! The Berkeley are now offering all their brides and grooms a 9 week complimentary membership to their amazing roof top spa and health club.
The Berkeley launched Cloud Nine, the complimentary nine-week membership as a way for the bride and groom to get familiarised with the wedding venue and the team and to give them that much needed relaxation time in the lead up to the wedding.
The nine weeks prior to the big day are known to be the most intense period for the bride-to-be and I’m sure many dream of a little secret hideaway so they can get away from it all when things get stressful. Nestled on the top floor of the hotel their Health Club and Spa are the perfect escape for the busy couples planning their wedding in the chic Berkeley Ballroom.

I am very excited to write about these gorgeous charity Sunflower Ring Cushions.
Bridal accessory designer Olivier Laudus has created a beautiful special edition wedding ring cushion for Leukaemia Research.
Inspired by the Calendar Girls story, Olivier designed the cushion in memory of his mother Lily who died at the end of 2008 after a long battle with cancer.
The cushion features a brightly beaded sunflower depiction against a backdrop of pearls and can be personalised with bride and groom’s initials and wedding date. It is also available with a white sunflower if you want a subtler colour but I personally love the bright yellow, especially for a Summer wedding.
Olivier commented, “I am delighted to be working with Leukaemia Research. Losing a parent is a very painful process to go through; however I was able to forget my own sadness for a while, by speaking to clients who were getting excited about their wedding preparations. Creating the Sunflower Cushion also gave me a focus and seemed the perfect way of honouring the memory of my mother. She absolutely loved flowers and had the most stunning sunflowers growing in her garden in Perpignan.”
The Sunflower Cushion is now on sale and can be purchased directly from www.olivierlaudus.co.uk and selected bridal retailers. It is priced at £65 (including personalisation and luxury presentation box) and 10% from the sale of each cushion will be donated to Leukaemia Research.

Listen up ladies! If you want picture perfect make-up on your wedding day I have a fabulous recommendation for you. This week I visited the Prescriptives counter to try out their custom blend foundations and I was not disappointed!
A Prescriptives custom blend analyst hand measure, hand mixes and hand makes your own foundation to exactly match your skin’s colour and tone, from a pale ivory to a deep ebony, their custom blend service is the ultimate in bespoke beauty!
They started off by asking me lots of questions about my skin type and the make-up I usually wear, they then moved on to testing out different shade on my cheek using crayon like colour sticks, once they get an accurate idea of the tones in your face they begin mixing up your custom blend, trying and testing on your face as they go along. It takes about 15 minutes for them to create the exact match and the end result is amazing! It matched so perfectly that it looked like I had no make-up on at all just a flawless complexion.

Wedding girl, please help me! It’s my wedding in September and as my h2b and I are both very environmentally aware, everything in our wedding is either ethical, fairtrade or recycled. I am looking for something a bit special for my something blue that will fit in with this theme. Can you help?
B.Jackson – Cornwall
Hi B, I am a big fan of this new company Elle Georgia Jewellery. They have a fantastic range of jewellery and accessories including a large wedding section. Their entire range is all ethically and sustainably sourced, their credo being that success should never be achieved at the expense of others and that ethical principles should govern a business in a multitude of ways.
I recently got this Murano glass heart brooch, which I just love! It can be pinned to clothes, a handbag, a jacket… anything!!
Now I think this blue one would be perfect for your something blue, you could pin it to your clutch bag or how about pinned to your garter!!

I am loving new lingerie company Curvy Kate.
As any girl with an ample bossom will know it can be a complete nightmare to find pretty lingerie in the bigger cup sizes and don’t even get me started on trying to find sexy lingerie!
It is so important to have a good bra that fits you properly under your dress, to give you the flattering silhouette you want on your big day but we still want a bit of lace and pretty fabrics and not something that looks like your grandma handed it down to you!
Selections on the high street are getting slightly better but they are still very limited, there are of course a few good mail order places but a girl needs variety!!

I am loving this new range of stationery!! Mindy Weiss, one of the worlds most sought-after wedding planners, has teamed up with Inviting Company, the leader in fashionable stationery, to produce this fabulous range of wedding stationary. The collection represents Mindy’s whimsical and vintage sense of style in an array of invitations, save the date cards, thanks you cards and much more! Of course I was utterly disappointed to find out this range was not available here in the UK but after hours of research and visiting lots and lots of American websites, I’m pleased to tell you that I found a great company who stock the whole range and will ship it to the UK. Not only that, they also do the printing so you can simply fill in your text for each item online and 10 days later they will be at your door! Voila!

The idea for ‘A Most Curious Party…’ was born through vintage enthusiast Rebecca’s own love of everything vintage! Rebecca spent months scouring antique shops and car boot sales to source unusual pieces to style her own wedding last July. After that Rebecca couldn’t stop collecting so decided to hire out all the objects and help others who want to bring a little vintage charm to their event.
Rebecca said she would have given her right arm to have found all the things she was looking for in one place and for some one who loved it too to give her a helping hand, especially when she was running out of time and steam. So here she is…

I absolutely loved the peach wedding dress that Carrie wore in the Sex and the City movie and wondered where I could get something similar?
Jessica, you are in luck ! That dress was made by Vivienne Westwood for Sarah Jessica Parkers failed wedding with Mr Big, and its sheer size and extravagance made it memorable and instantly covetable. Due to popular demand, you can now buy a very similar version for your own nuptials, although unfortunately it doesn’t come cheap. For a fitting in her bridal boutique, make an appointment at Vivienne Westwood, 6 Davies Street, London W1, 020 7629 3757.
