    Etchical wedding cakes….

    June 25th, 2009

Hi Wedding girl, I really need some help. My fiance and I are having an entirely ethical wedding and we are doing pretty well at sourcing everything but I am having a bit of trouble finding a cake or cupcakes that are completely ethical and also taste great.

    M – Notting Hill, London

    Hi M,

That is fantastic that you and your fiance have opted for an ethical wedding. I’m pleased to say this is becoming more and more popular, it’s just a shame it’s not as easy as it should be to access everything you need.

I recently heard about a company Fair Cake in Woolwich London that offered ethical cupcakes. They looked beautiful but of course I wanted to make sure that this would carry over to the way they tasted! Low and behold, when I tried a selection they were all deliciously yummy!!

Fair Cake are a small company and use the finest ingredients possible in making their cupcakes such as free range eggs and Fairtrade chocolate and coffee. Cupcakes start from £1.90 each and they can even match the edible roses and flowers to your colour scheme. Visit www.faircake.co.uk for more details.

    My something blue…

    June 9th, 2009

Wedding girl, please help me! It’s my wedding in September and as my h2b and I are both very environmentally aware, everything in our wedding is either ethical, fairtrade or recycled. I am looking for something a bit special for my something blue that will fit in with this theme. Can you help?

Hi B, I am a big fan of this new company Elle Georgia Jewellery. They have a fantastic range of jewellery and accessories including a large wedding section. Their entire range is all ethically and sustainably sourced, their credo being that success should never be achieved at the expense of others and that ethical principles should govern a business in a multitude of ways.

I recently got this Murano glass heart brooch, which I just love! It can be pinned to clothes, a handbag, a jacket… anything!!

Now I think this blue one would be perfect for your something blue, you could pin it to your clutch bag or how about pinned to your garter!!

I love Catriana Vassalo’s collection of fascinators and hair combs. The entire collection is designed and handmade by Catriana and made here in the UK using a huge variety of materials such as recycled flowers and leaves, vintage ornaments, sinamay bases (natural fiber produced from banana plant), vintage rhinestones, ornaments, feathers, veils etc. Catriana likes to use as much organic, recycled and eco friendly material as possible.  She also designs a large selection of beautiful jewellery. Each of Catriana’s pieces is a limited edition!
