Situated in Limehouse, a stone’s throw from Canary Wharf and the City and overlooking the river Thames, the UltraSmile* clinic is ultra-cool and chic with modern, minimalistic furnishing throughout and stylish, attentive staff waiting to greet you at the door. Having been warmly welcomed and offered a nice cool drink to enjoy whilst admiring the reception’s fish tank, I was introduced to my hygienist for the procedure, Benjamin Blum (Benji). I was very nervous when I first arrived but Benji quickly put me at ease with some light-hearted humour whilst he talked me through the procedure. Now, that I was feeling completely happy with what was about to happen we made our way through to an attractive treatment room which reminded me more of being in a relaxing spa than at the dentist.

How can a bride make sure her make-up stays put during hot summer months and does not dry out and lose it’s ‘dewyness’ in the dryer, harsher winter weather? And do they need different products/techniques in Summer and Winter?

Never forget how important exfoliating the skin is, whatever the season. By revealing fresher, radiant skin – your foundation will look smoother and last longer. Next apply a serum based on your specific skin requirements.

In the winter I always use a luminous liquid highlighter and mix it with foundation to create a dewy, healthy glow. Makeup is generally heavier in the winter so this softens a full-coverage foundation and refreshes dry, dull skin. I love long wearing foundations as they last all day without you worrying about touching up or smudges.

Every bride wants her hair to be looking its best on her big day, that is why I went along to the Errol Douglas Salon in Knightsbridge, London to see what they could do to get brides hair looking ship-shape!

From the moment you walk in you know you are in good hands, the friendly receptionist greeted me and handed me over to Karis my lovely therapist. Karis took me down to the famous Errol Douglas Hair Botanicals Lounge, it is a therapeutic environment with dim lighting and soothing music. The first thing I noticed was the fully reclined bed with backwash (I almost fell asleep while having my hair washed it was so comfy).

They offer a selection of services and they all include two hair and scalp treatments and are delivered with either a soothing or energizing shiatsu scalp massage, followed with a Biolage hot-therapie towel and the famous Errol Douglas Knightsbridge Blow-dry. Each treatment also comes with the Booster drink of your choice, I went for the scrummy apple, ginger and mint booster which was divine!
