Get Your Body Wedding Ready

If you’re anything like me then your wedding has definitely given you a good reason to get yourself into shape. With all eyes on you for an entire day you want to make sure you feel your best. But where do you start?

Expert Nutrition Manager Gareth Nicholas, Head of Nutrition at MaxiNutrition shares his top tips for getting wedding ready.

Exercise top tips

  • Try to exercise for at least 30 minutes 3 times per week
  • If you are new to training, try training with a friend to keep you motivated
  • Try mixing your exercise up, this will keep it interesting and keep you focused on the goal. Try swimming, cycling, running, yoga, fitness classes etc
  • Mix up resistance exercise (i.e. circuit training or weight lifting) with cardiovascular training (i.e. running or cycling)
  • Do some of your sessions fasted to encourage fat burning
  • Where possible avoid the lift and take the stairs
  • If you are using your car, park further away from your house or shop to force you to walk a little further each day

 

Nutrition top tips

  • Split your daily calories into 5-6 meals per day
  • Include protein in every meal (eggs, fish, beans and pulses, meat and dairy)
  • Swap high sugar carbs for starchy carbs that will drip feed your body with energy – eat low
    glycaemic index foods
  • Try to eat 5 portions of fruit and veg per day
  • Include a treat/cheat 1-2 per week – this will help you focus and should feel like a reward
  • Try and reduce your saturated fat intake, things like animal fats, cakes, biscuits and chocolate
  • Use clothes and girth measures to measure success rather than the scales
